Photo was taken from the Tierra ridge trails of what is now the major Canyons fire out of Cashmere while on reconnaissance to check in on lightning strikes in Sunitsch Canyon. Made for an exciting day at work as the crew here monitored what turned into a 13 acre fire. The Forest Service got a hot shot crew on it and kept it out of the crowning in the trees.
We do our forest work all year round with an eye to wildfire risk management - so when the day actually comes we get a good dose of perspective. Take a look at some of our forest stewardship articles to learn more.
